  • What is your cancellation and refund policy?
    All programs are non-refundable and we have the sole right to cancel, postpone and or discontinue any program.   • What is a licensed training provider?
    An American Red Cross licensed training provider (LTP) is an independent training partner of the Red Cross authorized to teach their courses.
  • What kinds of courses do you offer?
    As an American Red Cross Licensed Training Provider we offer a variety of Red Cross courses. Some of our most popular courses include: - Lifeguarding - Basic Life Support - First Aid - Babysitting Training We also offer instructor level courses such as: - Lifeguarding Instructor - First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor - CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers Instructor - Basic Life Support Instructor Lastly, we offer online courses that are always available.   • Where are your courses held?
    We are based out of Joliet, Illinois but being a Licensed Training Provider we are able to teach courses throughout the U.S. We currently service 30+ counties throughout Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, and Wisconsin.   • What is a Strategic Contractor
    A strategic contractor (SC) is an LTP affiliate of the American Red Cross that teaching courses on behalf of their service delivery division. We subsidize the use of their internal instructors and help provide American Red Cross training to clients.
  • What happens if I don't pass the prerequisite testing?
    Per the Red Cross participants have two attempts to pass the prerequisite testing. If on the second attempt a participant fails then they will be dismissed from the course with a 50% refund. If they so choose they may re-register for a course at a later date.
  • What are the NEW lifeguarding prerequisites for revision 2024 (r.24)?
    With the changes to the lifeguarding suite in r.24 the new prerequisite swim tests are as follows: Prerequisite 1: Complete a swim-tread-swim sequence without stopping to rest: ▪ Jump into the water and totally submerge, resurface then swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. (Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Swim goggles are allowed) ▪ Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs ▪ Swim 50 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both Prerequisite 2: Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds: ▪ Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. (The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed). ▪ Surface dive (feet-first or head-first) to a depth of 7 – 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object. ▪ Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping the face out at or near the surface. ▪ Exit the water without using a ladder or steps. Participants are granted 2 attempts to successfully complete the events.
  • What is the online (blended learning) material?
    Here at Dartford Training we prefer to teach our courses blended learning. This limits the time participants spend with us in class. For the lifeguarding course participants are expected to complete the 6 hour online material prior to the start of the class. If participants do not complete the online course work prior to the start of the course they will be dismissed from the class and will not be eligible for a refund. An email with the link to the online materials will be sent out 7-10 days prior to the start of the course by the instructor.
  • What should I bring to my lifeguard class?
    Participants should be prepared to get in the water all three days of the course. Participants should look to the email sent by their instructor on what materials are required to bring to class.
  • I want my company to be CPR trained, what can you offer?
    Here at Dartford Training you can customize your First Aid/CPR/AED course. Choices range from: - Adult CPR - Adult CPR/AED - Adult CPR/AED and First Aid - Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED - Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid - Pediatric (only) CPR/AED and First Aid You may also add a skills boost to the course if you'd like your participants to learn more information.   • What happens if I did not pass my course?
    There are two answers to this question: BASIC-LEVEL COURSES With all basic level courses the Red Cross allows one retake. If you fail to pass the second attempt then you must retake the entire course. Course fees will be non-refundable. We do allow for participants to move to another class at a later date. Ask your instructor for more details. INSTRUCTOR-LEVEL COURSES With our instructor level courses the Red Cross has a one and done testing policy, which means that you have one attempt to pass your exam. If you fail that one attempt you will need to speak with your Instructor Trainer on options available to you. As a clarification are course fees are non-refundable.
  • I need a copy of my certification where can I find it?
    We do not keep copies of participants certification. We only keep copies of your test and performance evaluations. If you're looking to find your certification please use the link below. https://www.redcross.org/take-a-class/digital-certificate
  • When will I receive my certification?
    We process certifications the moment you complete the course. The Red Cross allows us 10 days to submit certificates. At Dartford we ask our instructors to submit certificates within 48 hours of course completion. Certificates will be sent directly to the email address you used to register.
